Recipe for (what can) Winter Brown Ale (do for you?)

E.S.B. - Medfield

  • Grains:
    1/4 lb Crisp Chocolate
    1/4 lb Dingmans Special B
    1/4 lb Dingmans Biscuit
    1/4 lb Briess Special Roast

  • Extract:
    6 lbs Gold Malt Syrup
    1.5 lbs Dark DME

  • Additional Ingredients:
    Some Vanilla Extract
    Some Walnut Extract *!*!*! (see note below)

  • Hops:
    1 oz Challenger (at Boil)
    1 oz Fuggle (B+55)

  • Yeast:
    1 Wyeast London Ale
    1 White Labs Trappist Ale

    Fermentation Schedule:
    Brewed and Primary - 12/05/04
    Secondary - 12/10/04
    Bottled - 12/17/04


    Label Notes:
    This was my offering for the second Stainless Chef Competition. The label is not very amusing and the beer is even worse, perhaps my worst creation to date. *!*!*!: I am pretty sure that using the Walnut extract is where I went wrong, but the use of a Trappist yeast probably was a bad experiment as well.
