Recipe for St. Paul's Hazelnut Porter

E.S.B. - Medfield

  • Grains:
    1/2 lb Crisp Chocolate
    1/2 lb Simpson's Dark Crystal

  • Extract:
    6 lbs Gold Malt Syrup
    2 lbs Munton's Plain Dark DME

  • Additional Ingredients:
    Small Bottle of Hazelnut Extract (1 or 1.5 oz)
    5 oz Priming Sugar

  • Hops:
    1 oz Chinook (at Boil)
    1 oz Cascade (B+59)

  • Yeast:
    1 Wyeast Ringwood Ale

    Fermentation Schedule:
    Brewed and Primary - 11/10/04
    Bottled - 11/22/04


    Label Notes:
    This one requires a bit of explaining. The skyline at lower left is St. Paul, MN. The supposed blow-up takes you to a picture of myself, my sister Brittney, and my brother Patrick on top of St. Paul's Cathedral in London. The superimposed heads take the "Paul" theme further: I have become St. Paul (like the Apostle), Britt has become my thesis advisor, Paul Feldman, and Patrick is now my college pal Paul Dougherty.
