Recipe for Molecular Hydrogen Honey Ale
E.S.B. - Medfield

  • Grains:
    1 lb Dingmans Caramel Pils

  • Extract:
    6 lbs Gold Malt Syrup

  • Additional Ingredients:
    1 lb Honey (B+20)
    2 lb Honey (B+57)

  • Hops:
    1 oz Chinook (at Boil)
    1 oz Cascade (B+59)

  • Yeast:
    1 Wyeast American Ale
    1 Munton's Dry

    Fermentation Schedule:
    Brewed and Primary - 03/02/05
    Bottled - 03/15/05

    Label Notes:
    Because I could not think of a creative label for this one, I broke my own rules and let my research influence a label. The black line is a FUSE spectrum of a patch of sky near the Great Nebula in Orion (M42). The red line is a model I created of the emission and absorption lines of molecular hydrogen present in the spectrum. The data and the subsequent modeling were the subject of a paper that appeared in the Astrophysical Journal Letters.
