  • Grains:
    1 lb Simpson's Crystal

  • Extract:
    6.6 lbs Gold Malt Syrup

  • Additional Ingredients: None

  • Hops:
    1 oz Target (at Boil)
    1 oz Kent Goldings (B+30)
    1 oz Fuggle (B+50)
    1 oz Kent Goldings (B+59)

    1 oz Willamette Dry Hopped 2 days after fermentation eneded

  • Yeast:
    1 Wyeast London Ale

    Fermentation Schedule:
    Brewed and primary - 09/28/04
    Bottled - 10/11/04

    Label Notes:
    This label was inspired by the Art History class I took with my friend Gabe (and Lauren) my senior year of college. Norman Rockwell has this great painting where he paints himself painting a self-portrait, with self-portraits that other famous painters have done tacked to his canvas. I have always loved this piece, so I decided to adapt it to East Side Brewing's Extra Special Bitter. The E.S.B. theme was really supposed to become cubed, hence the Darth Vader bust (Empire Strikes Back), but I thought that would take too long to explain to people.
