This tool is called from CEDAR to create a backup TAR file of the "cosdb" database used in CEDAR to keep track of data taken. Only the database is backed up. The actual data files pointed to in the different database entries are not backed up by this tool.
The user can specify the desired file name for the backup or use the default name. The TAR file will also be compressed (gnuzip) to save disk space.
